Torchbearers

We flicker like stray sparks flitting about
Till we boldly shed our bones of ember and rise up Up UP
Departing from the very elements that shaped us
Blazing through chills gales and rain
To burn up a dark that seeks to snuff the heart of the heat we carry
While trails of smoke swell and sing in rolling waves
Of the all consuming fire
That was
And is
And is to come
